NSF Student Travel Grant for IEEE SMARTCOMP 2020
(For US-based Students ONLY)
The 6th IEEE International Conference on Smart Computing to be held virtually in Bologna, Italy on September 14-17, 2020 is anticipating NSF-sponsored competitive student travel grants to attend IEEE SMARTCOMP 2020 (www.smart-comp.info) and co-located events like Workshops, Ph.D. Forum, Work-in-Progress, Posters, and Demo sessions online. Since no travel will be involved, the NSF travel awards could be used to cover conference registration fee.
The NFS travel grant is available only to full time students attending colleges and universities in the US. Underrepresented minority and women students from diverse US institutions are particularly encouraged to apply. In addition to the student authors, non-author students including exceptional undergraduate students, MS and PhD students, engaged in smart computing research will also be considered. To be eligible for NSF travel grant, US based students (referred to as “you”) must apply via EDAS (https://edas.info/G.php?g=659) by Tuesday, September 1, 2020 (EXTENDED).

Eligible expenses include reimbursement of advance student/author registration fee to avail reduced registration fee, and non-author student registration fee. Expenses not eligible for reimbursement are regular/on-site registration, internet connectivity fee, etc. Virtual travel expenses will be reimbursed only after the completion of the conference attendance and submission of required receipts. The reimbursement amount will be based on the number of awards made.

- A one-page Cover Letter stating: (i) if you are a full-time student (B.S., M.S., or Ph.D.): (ii) that you will be attending virtually the entire SMARTCOMP 2020 conference and associate events; (iii) what your research interests and accomplishments are in the area of smart computing; (iv) why attendance to SMARTCOMP 2020 is important, and how it would impact your research; and (v) how you wish to benefit from and contribute to the conference, particularly given the online attendance mode this year.
- A two-page CV.
- A Letter of Recommendation from your academic mentor confirming: (a) you are currently a full-time student (B.S., M.S., or Ph.D.) in good standing, you are engaged in smart computing research, and your strengths and potential research contributions; (b) ways you would benefit from attending SMARTCOMP 2020 conference; and (c) you will be attending virtually the entire SMARTCOMP 2020 conference and associated events.
